Founded by Christ

The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ nearly 2,000 years ago, with Peter as the first Pope, continuing His mission today through the Pope and bishops.

Rooted in Scripture & Tradition

Our faith is rooted in Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the teaching authority of the Church — guiding us to know, love, and serve God.

Core Belief

Who Catholics Believe In

The Holy Trinity

Catholics believe in One God who is three divine Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are distinct, yet one God — three Persons, one Divine Nature.

God the Father

Creator of heaven and earth, who loves us as His children

God the Son

Jesus Christ, our Savior, who became man to save us

God the Holy Spirit

The Advocate who guides, comforts, and sanctifies us

God's Love

Catholics believe God loves each person infinitely and unconditionally — His love is the foundation of everything.

God's Mercy

God's mercy is greater than any sin. He always welcomes us back with open arms.

Eternal Life

God calls us to eternal life with Him in heaven, through faith and the sacraments.

Seven Gifts

The Seven Sacraments

The sacraments are sacred signs instituted by Christ that give grace. They are the ordinary means by which God's love flows into our lives.

Baptism

The gateway to new life in Christ. Baptism washes away sin and makes us children of God.

Sacrament of Initiation

Confirmation

The sacrament that strengthens our faith and gifts us with the Holy Spirit.

Sacrament of Initiation

Holy Eucharist

The Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus — the source and summit of our faith.

Sacrament of Initiation

Reconciliation

The sacrament of God's forgiveness, healing our sins and restoring our friendship with Him.

Sacrament of Healing

Anointing of the Sick

God's healing grace for those who are ill, suffering, or preparing for surgery.

Sacrament of Healing

Holy Orders

The sacrament by which men are ordained as bishops, priests, and deacons to serve God's people.

Sacrament at Service

Matrimony

A man and woman unite in a sacred bond, reflecting Christ's love for the Church.

Sacrament at Service

Why Sacraments Matter

The sacraments give us God's grace — the divine life we need to grow in holiness, overcome sin, and reach heaven.

The Source & Summit

The Holy Eucharist

The Real Presence

Catholics believe that at every Mass, through the power of the Holy Spirit and the words of consecration, the bread and wine become the true Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ.

This is not symbolic — Jesus is truly, really, substantially present in the Eucharist. When we receive Holy Communion, we receive Jesus Himself.

Source of Grace

The Eucharist is the "source and summit" of our faith — the greatest gift God gives us. In receiving Christ in the Eucharist, we are united with Him and with one another.

The Mass is the memorial of Christ's sacrifice on the Cross, made present for us today, bringing us the fruits of His redemption.

How to Receive Worthily

1

Be in a State of Grace

Go to Confession if you have mortal sin on your soul.

2

Fast Before Communion

Fast from food and drink (except water) for one hour.

3

Approach with Faith

Believe in Jesus' real presence and receive with an open heart.

Worship

The Holy Mass

The Mass is the central act of Catholic worship — the prayer that unites us with Jesus Christ. At Mass, we gather to hear God's Word, celebrate the Eucharist, and lift our hearts to God in praise and thanksgiving.

Why Attend Mass?

  • To worship God and give Him glory
  • To receive Jesus in Holy Communion
  • To hear Scripture and grow in faith
  • To be united with Christ and the Church
  • To keep the Sunday obligation (CCC 2181)

Parts of the Mass

1
Introductory Rites

2

3
Liturgy of the Eucharist

Presentation, Prayer over the offerings, Consecration, Communion Rite

4

Communication with God

Prayer in Catholic Life

Prayer is talking with God — the foundation of our relationship with Him. Catholics pray every day, individually and together, because we believe God loves us and listens.

Vocal Prayer

Prayers spoken aloud or silently — like the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, and other traditional prayers.

Meditation

Reflecting on Scripture, a mystery, or God's presence to deepen understanding and love.

Contemplation

Resting quietly in God's presence, simply being with Him in love.

Common Catholic Prayers

Our Father

"Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen."

Hail Mary

"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen."

Glory Be

"Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen."

Apostles' Creed

"I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord... I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints..."

The Rosary

A prayer meditating on the life of Christ through Mary's eyes. Each decade recalls a mystery of our salvation.

Scripture Reading

Reading the Bible prayerfully, especially the Gospels, to know Christ more deeply and hear God's voice.

Mother of God

The Blessed Virgin Mary

Mother of Jesus

Mary is the Mother of Jesus — and therefore the Mother of God. She was chosen by God to bear His Son, and she said "yes" with great faith and love.

Catholics honor Mary with love and respect because she is our spiritual mother too. She loves us and prays for us constantly, leading us always closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.

Important: We honor Mary, but we worship God alone. Mary is not a goddess — she is a humble servant of the Lord who points us to Jesus.

Marian Devotions

  • • The Rosary — meditating on Christ's life
  • • Mary appears in approved apparitions (Lourdes, Fatima, Guadalupe)
  • • Marian prayers: Hail Mary, Hail Holy Queen, Memorare
  • • Consecration to Mary for deeper union with Jesus

Mary Always Points to Jesus

"Do whatever He tells you." — Mary's words at the Wedding at Cana (John 2:5)

Every Marian devotion leads us back to Christ. Mary is the perfect disciple who shows us how to say "yes" to God's will and love her Son above all things.

God's Mercy

Sin, Mercy & Forgiveness

We are all sinners. Every person has struggled with sin — thoughts, words, and actions that separate us from God and one another. But God's mercy is greater than any sin!

God's Promise

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." — 1 John 1:9

The Beauty of Confession

In the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession), we tell our sins to a priest, who acts in Christ's name to forgive us. It's a gift of God's mercy that heals our souls and restores our friendship with Him.

  • Admit we have sinned
  • Feel sincere sorrow for our sins
  • Resolve to change our lives
  • Confess our sins to the priest
  • Receive God's forgiveness

God's Mercy Is Infinite

No matter what we have done, God loves us and wants to forgive us. Confession is a fresh start — a return to the Father's embrace. Come as you are, and experience the healing love of Christ.
